Matthew Starr, MD
Dr. Matthew Starr is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Associate Residency Program Director at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, MN. He graduated from medical school at Saint Louis University and then went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at Mayo Clinic and vitreoretinal fellowship at the Wills Eye Hospital and Mid Atlantic Retina in Philadelphia PA. As a retina fellow at Wills Eye Hospital he received the Ronald G. Michels Fellowship Foundation Award as well as the Macula Society’s Evangelos S. Gragoudas Award. He returned to Mayo Clinic in 2021 following completion of his fellowship. He currently serves on numerous editorial boards for major vitreoretinal journals and is keenly interested in vitreoretinal surgery and improving patient outcomes through advanced techniques and outcome measures. He enjoys working with residents and fellows at Mayo and spending what little free time he has remaining with his family.
